Because you are subscribed through the app store you are unable to use promo codes. It is not our rule, Apple just doesn't allow the use of promo codes.
Your best course of action is to cancel your current account, wait until your current billing period expires and then sign back up through mtntough.com using the promo code. If you are on an annual subscription, you can cancel and request a refund directly from Apple. If you are subscribed through Apple any refund request must go through them.
